Enemies

Introduction

Countless enemies inhabit the various dungeons in your journey. In each room, deadly foes lurk in the shadows and around every corner to sabotage you. Don’t get too distracted fighting players because you may be surprised by a skeleton corpse animating behind you.

Difficulty Tiers

Monsters may appear in the following Difficulty Tiers:

Common » Elite » Nightmare

Each difficulty tier increases the enemies damage, health, and move speed and appearance. Each tier is showcased as such 10»15»20. Loot table drops and odds are affected by their difficulty tier; higher rarer becoming more common and lower rarity items lesser.

Nightmare tier grants additional properties and move sets and is exclusive to normal enemies.

Move Speed

Due to how move speed is expressed within Dark and Darker, the basis of all move speed will be portrayed as being either faster or slower than the Common Skeleton Archer by a specific percentage (based on difficulty tiers). Therefore we will consider the Archer’s move speed Default for the tables.

For example, a Common Skeleton Footman is 6% faster than a Common Skeleton Archer and a Common Death Skull is 8% slower than a Common Skeleton Archer.

Movement Type

Enemies will have one of three movement types:

  • Grounded
  • Floating
  • Flying

Grounded and Floating enemies are limited to the terrain they spawn on with the exception of the rare occasion where a floating enemies’ attack can carry them across a boundary. Flying enemies can traverse across all terrain and air following you throughout a multi-level room.

Additional Info

There is body party modifiers that may affect damage dealt. Chest will have damage remain unchanged, head will increase and limbs will decrease damage.
Enemies are able to destroy doors with melee and projectiles. Stronger attacks will destroy doors more quickly. 

Shields carried by monsters are always active including during their attack animations.

This large beetle with a deadly stinger flies from room to room looking for something to feast on.

Gold Bugs, otherwise known as the Death Swarm, is the ever shrinking circle you must escape from while inside of a Dungeon. Escape the swarm by entering a either a blue portal or red portal.

Description

Trolls are very large and powerful beasts that wield a massive hammer and are covered in crafted metal armor.

Slows by 35% for 4 seconds. At times the Cave Troll will start the battle with this and lead into a Low Swing.

May charge at you at range and perform a spinning swing from the bottom left side that an be jumped over.

High Swing

After lifting their leg the Troll will lean back and swing over his head from the left side dealing damage to a wide area.

Ground Slam

After putting their hands together will lift the hammer over their head and slam the ground dealing massive damage.

Description

The King of all Ghosts is a blood covered, levitating cloth with glowing eyes, and a crown donned upon it. This ghost is one of the most dangerous enemies you can come across. Attacks can leave behind curse zones that stacks. All damage is increased based on the amount of stacks given.

Teleport Attack

A light will briefly shine indicating where it will appear. Once it materializes it will spin attack and leave a curse zone.

Teleport

Will teleport to another area within the arena.

Scream

An arena wide scream attack that is unavoidable and deals damage to all.

Curse of Chilling

Will apply a debuff to everyone within the arena that increase damage received from the Ghost King

Orb Attack

After targeting a player, the Ghost King will will fire a fan of five orbs in their direction.

Eating

After a bubble forms around the Ghost King he will mean he has targeted a player and will begin chasing you down. When reached, you will be pinned in place and begin having your health siphoned.

Earthquake

Will fly straight up into the air and after a brief moment will come crashing down to the ground sending a massive shockwave that can decimate teams. This attack will also spawn three Death Skulls.

Close Attack

Swings their staff when upclose.

Strong Attack

Shoots a dark purple, homing magic projectile that will follow until it hits something.

Soul Steal

Lich will use the soul of your fallen allies to create a barrier around him that absorbs damage.

Resurrection

Raises 6 skeleton enemies with varying weapons.

Curse of Isolation

Conjures a blue zone under a target player that will explode after 5 seconds. The zone will deal more damage based on the amount of players and enemies within it, up to a maximum of 5.

Curse of Gathering

Conjures a purple zone under a target player that will explode after 5 seconds. The zone will deal less damage based on the amount of players and enemies within it, up to a maximum of 5.

Death Swarm

The Lich will cast Death Swarm; a massive magic spell with a safe zone within the center. Standing outside it will deal magic damage per second to players and buff skeletons with Frenzy.

Frenzy

Skeletons that are within the Death Swarm will become frenzied. They will gaming 50% move speed, 25% increased attack speed and 20 additional damage to all attacks.
